There are so many games this month. And there’s also a special few other things coming. First though, is the series review for Ahsoka. Having already given thoughts on the opening two episodes in August, the final episode comes this month. It has been a great series so far, so my thoughts on it will come when that final episode arrives. Much like my thoughts on Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, I won’t reveal anything about that finale beyond vague hints.
As for those special articles, much as I did with Go Vacation during Racing Month, there’s a game I love this month that is turning five years old. So this month I will be celebrating five years of Starlink: Battle For Atlas. This space combat adventure game was a great game to be playing in 2018. Just unfortunate it was a toys-to-life game at the end of the hype surrounding such games. Except… you did not need those toys at all. Everything was available digitally, which is how this became one of my favourite games on the Switch.
The other is a new What I’m Waiting For. The LEGO Edition from March put LEGO 2K Drive on my Waiting For list, while I also have both Sonic Frontiers and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to look at from the last regular edition. This won’t be a balanced one, what with three games to cross off the list and only two being added, but those two are games that I have a big interest in. And if GTA VI does happen to be announced this month, it won’t be added this time. Even if I have been waiting for it since those leaks revealed quite a bit about it. And maybe even before then.
As for all those games releasing across this month, I’ll be offering up experiences of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Forza Motorsport in the first half, with Sonic Superstars, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder spread across the second. It’s been a while since I last played an Assassin’s Creed game, with this one promising a return to the series roots with more stealth focused gameplay. Forza Motorsport I have always enjoyed, and this new one looks to be visually stunning. Plenty of photo opportunities, then.
As for those second half games, all three release across a four-day period, hence not being able to cover them on the days they release. But I will be covering them in the order that they release, starting with Sonic Superstars. The next outing for classic Sonic looks to be a fun one, with some friends along for the ride. Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 seems to be improving upon the first greatly, with a lot more variety in the vehicles and tracks. As for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, it’s looking to be a zany adventure in a new world with many characters to play as.
With all of that and potential other articles, plus the fact my Cosmic Fury review was delayed into this month, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a second month with the article count in the double digits. As for the year total, it’s unlikely I’ll reach 100, but it will still be a record overall.
