History

There are currently four eras to the history of DarkRula Media. Neither of them touches four years in length, but eras is still an apt classification for them. Each of the eras brought about something new for this label, whether that be a change in site structure or a completely new name. Below are those four eras in brief, as well as a brief history of my forum usage, with the banners giving links to pages looking deeper into those periods.

January-2012 was the start of the label, with the name of CDS Media being used to front a website that held two fan-created stories. CDS was a name I’d used plenty of times when younger, adding in the business after the letters – such as CDS TV or CDS Games – simply because they were my initials with the D representing a period (or as I’d call it ‘dot’). New stories would be added, with a blog being started in June of that year, which opened the CDS name out to have an actual meaning. Cyber Digital Services.

The start of the second era came when the blog moved from Weebly to Blogger just before June-2014. Eventually, the stories would also be moved to a new home in 2016, with The Chameleon Chronicles being the first to release on Wattpad in June-2016. Focus on stories had also taken a backseat in this era as the focus moved to university work, with more effort being put to the blog, though there would occasionally be a short story being uploaded.

Having announced it before this era began, CDS Media no longer existed in name on January-2017, having been changed to DarkRula Media. That wasn’t the only change, with the main site seeing an overhaul to be a showcase of everything under the label. But larger than that was a push to be known to the wider world. A push that started with the Kindle Store, and releasing some originals onto it throughout the years. There was also a greater push onto social media through additions to the blog.
