July means it’s time to burn rubber like the sun is burning me. Yes, another Racing Month is here, and there’s a fair bit of variety in the games I’ve got lined up. Not all of them involve cars, and one is closer to a general driving game than racing. Though there’s still some races and chases to get involved in with it.

Starting with the new releases, The Karters 2: Turbo Charged releases to Early Access 17/July after missing its previous date of last month. This is one I’ve had my eye on for quite some time, having played the demo that allowed access to a few of the tracks. A technical kart racer much like Crash Team Racing, there’s a lot of shortcuts and techniques to master. And not forgetting the items, which felt great to use.

Then there’s Wheel World a week later. This cyclist’s adventure will see players racing elite teams as they hunt down legendary parts across the open world. These parts are instrumental to saving Wheel World. There’s a very cell shaded art style to this one, along with plenty of customisation. I’m interested in seeing just how well the open world is utilised when it comes to those hidden secrets it promises.

As for the other games, released this February is SNØ: Ultimate Freeriding. Skiing down the procedurally generated mountain slopes, gaining big points for tricks. Or just relaxing with some extreme sport. Which the minimalistic look achieves anyway. Developed by two people in Norway, this is a perfect game to lead into Tiny Teams next month.

Parcel Corps is another game featuring bikes, but this time there’s a lot more wallriding involved. One I was interested in getting to before the delay (which put it right in the middle of the busy gaming period), Racing Month feels the perfect time to get delivering parcels in a race to become the largest mail carrying business of New Island.

I’ve always had an interest in the retro racers such as 80’s Overdrive. One of the more popular ones at the time of its release was Hotshot Racing. 2020 sure was a great time for games, to the point I overlooked this on its release. Having got it earlier in the year thanks to a Fanatical Mystery Bundle, I’m ready to be giving it a go after all this time.

And lastly on the games I’ve be giving my experiences of is Motor Town: Behind The Wheel. An Early Access game released at the end of 2021 that is continuing to add many new things to do in its open world, it feels very much like a mix of every on-road vehicle-based simulator you could think of.

To start the month off will be an article on Mario Kart World. The Switch 2 has released and I’ve very much enjoyed my time with both console and game. To the point I’m already thinking of ways to expand it. I won’t be going into detail with things I might have already talked about, such as extra racing modes, as this is a whole world of opportunity for the new game. Though custom content will be a big part of what I talk about.

Racing Month will play host to another preview for Space Race Championship. Much like in May, this time will offer a look at the planning behind the story. I’ll be looking at the events of the championship the competitors face. Standard races, rally-style time trials, and even those non-standard race events all had inspiration for their inclusion, so I’ll be revealing all that and a bit more.

Then there’s the short story of this month. Coming to Shorts of the Rula is a second story in the Zincite Storm universe, going a bit more in depth with the delivery jobs that people can undertake. Much like with last year’s Zincite Storm short, I’ll be aiming to introduce new elements without it feeling like a documentary or lore sheet about this part of the Racer’s Way.
