And so ends another Jingle Jam. From 1-14/December, the Yogscast ran their usual two weeks of streams. And many others throughout those two weeks held their own streams. So, if Jingle Jam ended on 14/December, why is this coming almost a week later? Jingle Jam this year partnered with Trust In Rust, an event that brings a load of communities together for some survival shenanigans. And so that event’s campaign (minus the Games Collection) was allowed to run until 18/December.
The final total was then confirmed on 19/December, which put it at the third best total of Jingle Jam. Things seemed they would be slower from the start, when this year was the slowest to reach £500k barring 2016. The pace soon picked up when more fundraisers started putting the word out, which allowed the total to be the fourth fastest to reach £2 million on 12/December. And so, by the end of Trust in Rust, the full total amounted to £3,424,848. An absolutely huge amount raised for the eight charities.
For the Yogscast streams, the first day played out as usual, with the decorating of the office cam space, the warm-up with Tom and Ben, Jingle Cats marking the opening of donations, then some OpenTTD to round off the night. Other staples such as poker and RTGame’s Wii Shit were around. The Feed a Cow For Christmas stream was at its best this year, with Tom’s TABS leaning more heavily into the roleplay as Wheel Boy returns more deranged than ever.

The other fundraisers, of which there were over 1000 of them, all played a part in reaching that total. Whether £100 or £10k, every fundraiser helped in their own way. Whether that be playing their usual stuff, or doing something special. While I haven’t seen much of what other fundraisers got up to, I had to give the Smosh Family’s karaoke stream a watch after it had finished. Seeing Ian and Anthony duet the Pokémon theme is something I had to watch. Everything else that stream was a riot, too.
With the Games Collection for this Jingle Jam, 15 games were part of it. I claimed six of them for myself, covering four on this site. Train Sim World 6, Spiritfall, The Royal Writ, and Rogue Waters are all great games to be enjoying. The rest of the games I’ve already given away to those of GRcade, who were grateful for the gifts I could give them in this final month of the year. And giving is always a core part of Jingle Jam.
I say it every year, but it’s true. Jingle Jam started because people gifted to Lewis and Simon, whereas they wanted the community to give to good causes. More than ten years later, over £30 million has been given to so many charities the Jingle Jam supports. Every year, people are gifted games for giving to charities. And every year, people gift those games they have onto others. Some even doing so as part of their streams.
A huge thank you has to be given for everyone who put into this Jingle Jam. The team who organises everything behind-the-scenes. The publishers who provided the games for the Collection. The Yogscast, the clip-creating community for sharing the best bits from the two weeks, and everyone who did some fundraising, donated, or otherwise shared the message of Jingle Jam. You all make this time of year special. And to the charities, keep on doing the great work helping the world and those of it.
