2024 is very close to its end. With just half of December left, the Jingle Jam has now finished for another year. As always, it has been an absolutely fun time, with eight charities being represented across the two weeks. Plenty of donations were making themselves known across those two weeks, until a grand total of over £2.67 million was raised.
After the initial rush of opening donations, they started to slow, tracking below all other years from 2017. Though still managing to reach £1 million raised on day 2. But things soon picked up, with donations slowly starting to track very close to last year. Until on day 9, a few hours before last year, the donation total reached £2 million. The £2.5 million total was raised on the last day, with donations still coming in until closing of the Jingle Jam very close to midnight on 14/December.
The first day held the usual events for the Yogscast’s schedule, with decorating the office camera area followed by Tom and Ben giving an overview of the first week. And some Benga. This year joined by Tombling Towers, and the tiniest tower block ever. At 17:00 GMT, the Jingle Jam began with the one stream to start the Jam. Jingle Cats. Same as always, there were some crazy entries this year. The last stream of day one was the trains, delivering presents on OpenTTD.
The rest of the first week featured a lot of music, with the Hat Films Music Stream, The Longest John’s Shantyoke, and the return of Maraoke – featuring classic songs turned into video game related parodies. Along with all the music was plenty of Minecraft, some fun Civilisation games, and Feed a Cow For Christmas this year seeing another bout the of Farming Simulator eSports tournament the Yogscast had held earlier in the year. And can’t forget about the chaos of Mario Kart.
For the second week, the poker night led the way to the speedrunning day, some game shows, Blood on the Clocktower, and RTGame returning with some Wii Shit. Which this year included the masterpiece that is Wii Music. Many of the streams of the schedule allowed games of the Jingle Jam Games Collection to be shown off, or in the case of some, new games of studios featured in it.
The first week held a look at Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap, which is releasing in January. The second week held a look at Two Point Museum, which has a release in March. The Games Collection felt more varied despite the smaller number of games in it, with many releases from the last few years such as Another Crab’s Treasure, For The King II, and Sticky Business.
Of course, it’s not just the Yogscast raising the funds anymore. Plenty of content creators signed up to help raise funds, with the Jingle Jam social media pages again highlight the incredible work of those creators. There were plenty of fun things those creators did to raise the thousands they did, with Smosh Games even hosting their own karaoke event. Even smaller fundraisers were given a chance to shine, such as Jordan Sorcery and the Games Workshop trivia challenge they hosted.
With the Jingle Jam ended for another year, it’s an absolute joy to have been within the magic. Enjoying the streams with the community, trying out the games from the collection, and following the huge amounts being raised by everyone. To the Yogscast, a huge thank you for bringing together everything for a great Jingle Jam. And much love to everyone who engaged with the event. Here’s to a very lovely Jingle Jam next year!
