A Pokémon Presents has become a standard thing for Pokémon Day. Revealing many new things for the mobile games while also providing the latest for the new games coming to consoles. This year being the big 3-0, there’s been some nice celebrations shown off. Including original artwork Red for Masters EX. And, of course, Generation 10. Though I’ll save that for last, as I’ll talk most about it.
One of the first things announced was a mini Game Boy. That’s a music player. A variety of cartridges hold a scene from Red and Blue, along with music from those games. Simply slot the cartridge in, hit the power switch, and that music will play. Just like it did from the original Game Boy speakers. A nice novelty, then. Though not one I’d be getting myself, it is a cool thing for collectors.
Sticking with the music theme, it was revealed that Rotom is in Pokopia, inhabiting a stereo. Collect discs and play music from across the franchise while working on the town. Quite a bit was shown off about this town builder, including one of the games that can be played in multiplayer. I’m sure games of hide and seek will be very enjoyable when friends get together.

The GameCube Classics app is getting Gale of… Darkness? Why would they do that? Colosseum comes before Gale of Darkness, so it would make sense to put that one out first. Yet no mention of it in the Presents. The fact Gale of Darkness even featured with a release onto the app in March means it’s unlikely Colosseum is coming any time soon. As if it was coming today, why would it not be mentioned? Either way, these GameCube Pokémon games are coming
The big one was the final video for the presentation. The reveal of Generation 10. Winds and Waves. The trailer provided a look at the region we’ll be exploring, which looks to be an archipelago. Many islands with a vast sea between them. And speaking of the sea, if that last shot is any indication, we’ll be able to dive into the depths once again. That tower I’d imagine holds some significance. Whether as a player home or a research facility.
We got the starters revealed, with all three looking great. Browt, the grass bird. Pombon, the fire puppy. And Gecqua, the water gecko. As ever when it comes to the choice of starter, I’m likely to go fire. While those were the only new Pokémon revealed, it seems a duo of Pikachu are characters in their own right. Shown at the start in very tropical outfits, it remains to be seen what this duo will bring to the adventure.
I’m certainly liking what has been shown of Winds and Waves. Though it’ll be such a long time before we get to play them. They were dated for next year. Hopefully that means the performance won’t be an issue when they release. And maybe I can also hope for them to be packed of things to do around the region. Of course, it is very funny that Generation 9 is now going to be the longest generation of games ever with only two major releases in it.
