Eyes were locked to 2/April, when Nintendo would provide an information blowout for the Switch 2. But then rumours started up this week of a Direct happening before then. And sure enough, Nintendo announced one for today, 27/March. No Switch 2 news here, though. This was purely for Switch. And so, with this being the last Direct before Switch 2 news starts rolling out, how was it? Pretty much what I was expecting.

I didn’t think Nintendo would provide any new big announcements here. And that proved correct. What they did provide was a few looks at games we know of, and one sequel that’s been a long time coming. Oh, and a news app. And a new system for game sharing digital purchases. With the Nintendo news was a lot of third party announcements, with some interesting games coming. This is all what I’m interested in from the Direct.

First off was a reminder that Dragon Quest I + II HD-2D Remake is coming, with a trailer showing some of what to expect from the two adventures. No date given other than 2025, so I doubt it will be coming in the next three months. I enjoyed Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake a lot, and I’ve been waiting to continue the Erdrick trilogy since completing its story.

A giant winged beast talks to two smaller winged beasts in a room lined with pillars that hold dragonhead statues.

A new Story of Seasons! One which remakes a DS game. Not the DS game I’ve been wanting, but I suppose it makes sense to avoid with its similarities to A Wonderful Life. Grand Bazaar takes the farming action to Zephyr Town, where the usual life-farm sim elements are joined by the bazaar. The place where you sell everything produced to the townsfolk.

Disney are bringing out a new game, one which focuses on providing their cast of villains with some refreshing potions to drink. It seems to be a game similar to Coffee Talk, where you’ll brew the potions while listening to the stories from the likes of Ursula and Gaston. It seems a fun enough game, though the strength of its writing will be what drives the investment in it. With it already available, I could see myself giving Disney Villains Cursed Café a try.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A featured here, which was a surprise. Along with recapping what was learnt from its Pokémon Presents feature, it revealed just what that tease was for at the end of its information. By day, wild Pokémon roam the city. By night, it becomes a battlers dream, as trainers across the city compete in the Z-A Royale. Battling trainers in each rank will bring about a promotion match to rise the ranks from Z all the way to A.

And lastly, a new Tomodachi Life is coming. Back on the 3DS, I found this to be a very fun time. A lot of madness in various interactions. To get a new one in Living the Dream, that seems to be expanding the possibilities of that 3DS game, is alright with me. Even if we’re not seeing it until 2026. At least one of the weird parts of the series is still here, with that dream at the end of the trailer being typical of those seen in the 3DS game.
