April ’21 Monthly Update

It’s time for Star Wars Month once again, and this time I can add streaming to my list of what I’m doing for it. But what is Star Wars Month, and why did I start it? The first stream of the month will sort that out, with me looking at exactly that by going to my website and YouTube channel to share some of the things I’ve published on past Star Wars Months.

The big streaming event for the month will be Republic Commando, where I’ll be doing a full playthrough of it across the month. In fact, this Star Wars Month has a bit of a classic theme with the streams, as I’ll be playing the classic Battlefronts, along with a bit of multiplayer fun (against bots) on Jedi Academy. In anticipation of LEGO The Skywalker Saga, I’ll be playing a classic of TT’s first generation. No, not The Complete Saga. The later one of the first generation. The Clone Wars.

Specifically, I’ll be playing some of the levels that feature the real-time strategy mechanics, along with the mode that’s all about such. While I don’t expect such to be featured in The Skywalker Saga, it is one of the most interesting additions to LEGO games that doesn’t seem likely to return. With Battlefront 2005, I’ll be looking at the Galactic Conquest mode, and that will be trimmed down to some Twitch Highlights for my YouTube channel.

And speaking of that channel… I didn’t upload anything to it last month. While I was working on that rendition of London within RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, I got distracted by pretty much everything else. Slowly but surely, I am building it up, and it should be ready to show off in May. As for Star Wars Month, my YouTube is also keeping to a classic theme. With The Force Unleashed. I’ll be playing both of them. While they’ve both been featured on the channel before, this time I can give some reactions and assessments on them.

But why all the classic theming, you might be wondering (along with how something from ten years ago can be considered classic). Well, those Disney+ announcements from last month have given me a good excuse to. No, not the recent ones (though I am excited to watch The Bad Batch and share some initial impressions in May). The fact that several classic series and films are coming to the service.

Caravan of Courage, Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, the Ewoks TV series, the 2D animated Clone Wars series, and the animated story that featured within the Star Wars Holiday Special are all hitting the service on the 2nd. What a lovely Star Wars Month treat for me. And for all of you, as it means I can talk about everything I’ve just mentioned. All of this (except for Clone Wars) will be new to me, which gives an extra reason to talk about it all.

It’s not just going to be about classic stuff, though, for I’m going to be reading the first of The High Republic novels, and I’ll have impressions of that – along with what else I can discover about the era. All will be featured within one article for easy viewing. Along with that will be a new article covering LEGO The Skywalker Saga. If the date of release is set for May the Fourth (why not hit Star Wars Day if you can?), then some time in April, we should be getting that final trailer. No matter what happens, though, I feel like writing another article talking of some more of my hopes for the game.

And for those of you who might not like Star Wars, there is at least a bright corner of my content where you get far from it. Friday’s over on GRcade’s Twitch channel will be free from Star Wars content, with this Friday seeing a second play of Monster Hunter Rise after my Joy-Con meant I couldn’t get even two hours of playing it. I’ve progressed onto three star quests, so during that second play, I’ll be going through those – or even the four star quests.

As for what else is being featured on that channel, you’ll just have to wait and see. One thing I will say is that games I’ve played on the channel before will certainly show up again. And… y’know. Maybe some GTA V Online on one of the days. That is my most featured game on the channel, after all.
