There’s a very light start to October, as the first game I’ll be offering thoughts on isn’t coming until the second half of it. There’s the possibility I do find a game I’m interested in during this first half to offer thoughts on, especially now I’ve got a Steam Deck so I can enjoy some handheld PC gaming in bed. Perfect timing too, with the Steam Autumn Sale currently ongoing.
As for the games I know I’ll be getting this month, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the first of those on 16/October. This new Pokémon adventure set entirely within Lumiose City takes a different form with its battles. Real time rather than turn based. Going to be interesting to see how a real time battle system changes things up. And how this first fully urban Pokémon adventure feels to explore.
A week later on 21/October comes Jurassic World Evolution 3. The second was a great time, with this third looking to expand on the management in two major ways. The first is the breeding, which will see juvenile dinos within the park for the first time. The second is the more in-depth creative tools, allow for greater variety in creating everything that goes into a park.
Then, another week later comes two games close to each other. Wreckreation is one I’ve had my eye on for quite some time. A sandbox driving game with 400 square kilometres of world to explore, it also allows creations to be built on it. Races designed with a deep building system, along with various modes able to be made. I’m sure it’s going to be an enjoyable one if my love of creating races on GTA Online is anything to go by.
And lastly, this one definitely isn’t getting my thoughts on it this month, as it releases 30/October. That game is Dragon Quest I + II HD-2D Remake. I enjoyed the remake of the third game, with the story continuing in this next game. From what I know, both are smaller stories, hence being together. I’m sure there’ll be some lovely places to explore when I get to it.
Elsewhere, I intend to get the second part of my creating an RPG region from a local area article up this month. I’ve got the basics of the map designed, with the details now needing to be inserted into it. The aim is to get it out during this light first half of the month. As a bit of a tease, this is the area that will hold the largest town of the entire region. In reality, this area is also the most urban, requiring a lot of cutting down of it to fit with the rest of the region being created.
For stories, Shorts of the Rula is getting a new Reality Twists short. Fitting in with the theme of Halloween, there’s going to be some spooky goings on. And with it being in the universe of Reality Twists, there’s going to be something fantastical about it, too. That will be coming in the final week of the month. On a final note, Yogsimulated 2 is coming along very well, with a preview of the first chapter of it maybe being this month before its release in November.
