The year of 2023 is coming to an end, which meant a certain charity event started. The Jingle Jam once again was representing 12 charities, raising money across the first 14 days of December. The Yogscast community and those of other streamers all came together to raise more than £2.7 million for an even mix of new and returning charities.
Live on Twitch and for the first time YouTube, the Yogscast’s first day of Jingle Jam streaming stuck to its tradition of office decoration and Tom and Ben providing a warmup to the official start of Jingle Jam. From there, the Jingle Cats were unleashed by Lewis and Simon, this year with a special appearance by Twitch CEO Dan Clancy.
The first million was raised in 24 hours, at roughly the same time as it had during 2021. From there, the number raised was tracking closer to 2018 until it became almost a perfect match. With the £2 million goal reached on Day 10, the timeline started breaking away from 2018 to fly quickly towards the 2.5 million goal. Which was hit on the final day. A final push in the last 12 hours brought the total to that final 2.7 million.
For the Yogscast streams, the traditional blocks such as Feed a Cow For Christmas and the Hat Films music stream returned. There were various blocks dedicated to looking at those games of the Jingle Jam Games Collection. On old tradition was brought back thanks to Maraoke, an events service that has a library of popular classic songs rewritten to be about videogames. A very hilarious time indeed.
The Mario Kart chaos returned for a third year, there were three Civilisation games played this year, and a lovely set of IRL streams that included art, quizzes, and the yearly poker. RTGame was once again in the office, joining in on the fun and showing his sporting prowess with Wii Sports Club. The appearance of some Yogscast members not seen in the office during Jingle Jam was great to see, with this bunch of friends welcoming each other on the office cam and getting up to some antics on it.
The Jingle Jam socials have been highlighting various streamers across these 14 days. No Rolls Barred were highlighted having raised £9,712 for all the charities, while Badlinu raised £6,466 for The Calm Zone. There were over 600 individual campaigns part of the Jingle Jam all working to the same goal. The socials also highlighted posts from the charities thanking the Jingle Jam for the money raised. Such as £100k being raised for The Grand Appeal on Day 3.
It has been another fantastic year of the Jingle Jam. Whether from the awesome load of games from the Jingle Jam Games Collection, the brilliant streams of the Yogscast and various others, or just the community in general being so great in celebrating the effort that goes into keeping the Jingle Jam running smoothly each year. A thank you to the Yogscast from me for putting together this fantastic event for another year. Here’s to the next one in 2024!
