With the third game in the World of Assassination trilogy having released a few months back, there’s now twenty locations to explore and enjoy various contracts at. Along with new locations, those contracts also featured a few mission strands not seen before. Whether being unaware of who your targets were, or having to sneak into a top-secret facility, new challenges were present.

So now, a few months on, I’m thinking of ideas as I usually do. Even more locations to explore is what I’m thinking, but these are based within the UK. And both are to do with communities I have a connection with. One is a community most wouldn’t have an idea of, but the other is one I’m sure many have heard of. Disclaimer, though. I would not expect either of these to happen at all. It’s just a fun excuse to design some concepts.

GRcade is a forum that brings several former Future Publishing communities together to talk of games and stuff. You’ve possibly seen me talk of it before, mostly on Twitter where I link to various goings on of said community. Now, we like a good talk of various subjects and play various games. And it is through one of these games this contract starts.

During the summer, the idea was shared to meet up for a week, where at one point the members agreed to play a role-playing game in reality rather than through the forum. The meet up happened within Wales, on a road trip from the south to the north. To play the game, the group head to the rural village of Elan Valley, which felt the perfect place. Isolated and hilly makes perfect sense.

The mountains within Wales are vast, and these that surround Elan Village give a great feeling of being closed in even within open areas

The game is played, then the group split up to explore. Agent 47, for some reason, is already in the area to hear of what then happens. Someone is killing off the group in the order that they died in the game. Since it’s a rural location, no emergency response team is going to be able to react in time, so Agent 47 takes it upon himself to solve what is happening.

The location features a river running through the middle of the village, with a few houses on the south side, along with a wooded area that stretches across the entire map. On the north side of the river are a hotel and camping ground to the east, the visitor centre to the west, and a chapel in between them. When looking around, you can see the hills surrounding you, though you won’t be able to go on them.

You might think this is to be a linear contract, then, but no. You have the freedom to find and question any of the people around. There is only one person who will be hostile toward you, and that is the one performing the kills. They will do their best to hide from you unless you give them a reason to attack you, however. By questioning people, you get to know who they are, so that when you have enough information to try protecting someone, you’ll know where to find them if you’ve already talked to them.

There’s no security cameras and no guards, so you are free to do what you want. If you are so inclined, you can even join the murderer on their killing spree. If you do that, though, the mission will fail once the last member is killed. That, then, is your only objective. Find and take down the killer before all the GRcade members present fall.

One of the two bridges found within the village, looking on at the wooded areas. I wonder if any GRcade members are hikers, 47?

Disguises aren’t needed here, but there’s still a few to find around. The hotel, visitor centre, and chapel can all be explored, and each contains a clue as to who the killer might be. Finding the killer is the only mission story available, but that mission story is only one way to find them, and obviously not the quickest.

For the second location, we head to Bristol – the home of the Yogscast. Here, it is winter. More specifically, December. Which means one thing. The Jingle Jam is currently running, and the day this contract takes place is during the Christmas Markets stream. Now, this one is leaning a bit into reference central with how it is set out, but that shouldn’t be too much trouble if you aren’t familiar with the Yogscast, as it will still make narrative sense.

For the Christmas Markets stream to take place, the Shopping Quarter needs to be included. But so does Queen Square. This map, then, is a compact rendition of that area of Bristol that also includes the Temple Meads station and Castle Park. The A-roads act as the border of the map, with the canal doing the same for the south. Yogtowers will be fully explorable, and for a reason.

The contract is set on three people. Lewis Brindley – the man who attracts those with negative views of the Yogscast down to Bristol to silence them. The Spiffing Brit – who uses his exploits to rake in a load of cash for the company. And Simon Lane – who is an unfortunate and unknowing victim to the events happening, but who will be the sole owner of the Yogscast should Lewis be taken out. The two who have put the contract out on these three people – known only as SharkE and PalP – are adamant that Simon must also be taken care of.

The centre of the Shopping Quarter, it looks a lot nicer dressed up with Christmas decorations and filled with various stalls

Lewis and Spiff head to the markets for the stream, along with a number of other Yogs. Simon, on the other hand, remains within the office with those Yogs who chose to remain inside. Within Yogtowers, you’ll need to sneak in and disguise up as one of those who chose to remain, then take out Simon. But… what if you didn’t? What if you felt sorry for him, and chose instead to find the identities of SharkE and PalP? You can do that, if you so choose, but Lewis and Spiff still need to be dealt with no matter whose side you choose.

For those two, they’re surrounded by other Yogs who will notice if their numbers start dwindling for an unknown reason. Thus, you need a way to split them away from the group. Such proves difficult when there’s a livestream going on, where getting caught performing suspicious actions on that camera could cause the mission to fail. The same is also true for the office cam back at Yogtowers.

There are five mission stories available with this one. One for both Lewis and Spiff, that uses the reason they’ve got a contract on them against them. For Lewis, that means being the bait that will uncover the dark secrets he holds. For Spiff, a challenge he cannot refuse that will end up backfiring. At Yogtowers, there’s a story for siding with both Simon and the two who initiated the contract. But what is the fifth?

There is a third member of the Yogscast who is aiding in the dodgy undercover operations, who even SharkE and PalP are unaware is a part of such dealings. That fifth mission story aims to uncover that person and also see they are taken care of. By naming the story mission as The Rainbow Conspiracy, fans of the Yogscast probably know who I am talking about.

From the south side of the canal, looking at Castle Park. That’s a rather large drop, wouldn’t you say, 47?

With both locations, there will be references that those within the communities will understand. Whether that be challenge names – such as The No Wolves Game and The Yogscast Guarantee, unlocks – such as a ‘larger – as in the drink’ glass and an explosive bee plush, or within the locations themselves – such as a shrine to the many names of Dan and a Big Lyds disguise that will bring unique dialogue from someone should you be wearing it around them, those who are part of the communities will enjoy what they find.

Now, as said at the start, this is just a bit of fun crafting concepts of things I’m familiar with. I don’t expect them to ever come to fruition, and I also don’t mean anything negative toward both communities by doing this. Both GRcade and the Yogscast are great communities to be a part of, and I wouldn’t want anyone thinking these concepts are meant to be inciting any sort of hate toward them owing to the subject matter of the game.

Instead, I see this as a way of raising awareness of both communities. Sure, I haven’t gone deep into detail – this article would be over 3000 words long if I did – but the little that is here I hope makes some curious enough to check them both out. As for the concepts, I hope you have enjoyed reading them, and perhaps have some ideas of your own. If you do, I’d love to hear them, so share on down below.
