The new website is now live! Yes, I’ve decided to activate it for the world a bit earlier than I had planned, but Racing Month is a big event. I want to give a strong first impression with this version of the site, and Racing Month is just the way to do so. I have quite a bit planned for the month, but first I’ll give the introductions to the site.
As I said in a previous update, it looks almost the same as the old site. The obvious additions being the search button on the sidebar and the socials button top right. Then you go to one of the sections of the site to find it looking less text heavy. Utilising just the article headers and excerpts creates a much easier way of navigation than having to scroll past a lot of things you might not want to see – even if you’ve selected a category from the right sidebar.
Said sidebar no longer needs to exist on this site – especially when the search function can get you around faster. Once you are within an article, the clean display looks a lot nicer than still having to contend with that right sidebar squashing the content against the left one. Once you’ve finished reading the article, there’s now a few related articles displaying that might interest you.
Since it has gone live earlier than I intended, most of the content hasn’t been carried over yet. Only the full list of 2012 and 2021 articles are here, along with the content from previous Racing Months. There might also be some issues and slight changes happening across the month as I fiddle with a last few things. I hope you enjoy the changes to the site, and stick around to see it grow.
Racing Month is a big one this year. Sonic the Hedgehog celebrates thirty years this year, and there’s a few racing games the blue blur is featured in. A Moonlit Critbit looking at the three Sumo Digital racers will arrive, with a stream of Team Sonic Racing and videos of all three coming for the month.
The Nacon Connect of the 6th is bringing new information on Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown, and I’m hoping there will be a proper look at where we’ll be exploring. Since it was announced last year, it’s one of the games I have most been looking forward to seeing in action. It’s been ten years since the last game, and technology has moved on to allow such fantastic worlds to be created. Surely this new game will have adapted to such times.
There’s a game on my radar called Crash Drive 3 releasing this month, and I will be giving it a download to give my first impressions on it. It does look like a chaotic time can be had, but there’s also exploration of each of its worlds, and that’s what I’m most interested in with this. Anywhere new to explore and I’m there, after all. I’ll probably have a video on this, as well.
And speaking of exploring, it’s time to dive into some concepts. Remember those two from Volume 10 of What I’m Waiting For? There’s one or two articles depending on how I feel about what I’ve got which will dig a bit deeper into them and develop them into true concepts rather than just the basic idea.
There’ll also be some experiences articles that cover a few games, I’ve got a video on BeamNG.drive that will see me exploring a bit of one of the base game maps, and don’t forget about other streams coming throughout the month. Those will include both Wreckfest and DiRT 5, a return to Rush Rally 3, and finally featuring the big one – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Just like with Star Wars Month, the first stream will be me talking a bit about the history of the month.
And speaking of Star Wars Month, I used my slot on the GRcade Twitch channel during it to put focus on games not related to the event in question, and the same is happening this month as well. Except, while April had me featuring games I’d previously played on the channel, this month will see games I’ve never featured on it before. One of those being Farming Simulator, though I won’t be continuing the Felsbrunn farm playthrough when I do. Mario Golf will be the game starting those streams off.
