There’s about to be a karty right here, as it’s Racing Month. Racing Month once again. And there’s some karting concepts coming. But let’s not forget about other racing games. And that’s where I’m starting this Racing Month. By having a look at the racing games that have and will be coming across this year. Of course, I’ve already talked about a few of the racing games I’ve played this year, so I won’t be going into detail with those. But there’s one other racing game I’ve played, as well as a demo for one releasing later in the year, which then leads nicely into what’s coming in the rest of the year.
Then there’s a concept I’ve wanted to do for a while. The Forza franchise might be all the rage at Microsoft these days, but let’s not forget their racing games of old. Midtown Madness and Project Gotham Racing haven’t been seen for more than fifteen years, and it seems unlikely that Microsoft would want three racing franchises on the go at the same time. It also seems unlikely that Microsoft would ever put one of these two on the Switch. So how about a fusion? Combining elements of both to create a single entity? That’s one concept I’ll be tackling.
This will be a month for concepts, as I’m doing them for kart racers, too. After all, anything can be a kart racer, and I’m going to prove that in an article where I take some pieces of media that might seem unadaptable to a video game and turn them into a kart racer. And since I asked the folks over at GRcade for their ideas, I’ll even try my hand at adapting a forum to a kart racer. Hey, I did it with a Hitman contract, after all.
That wasn’t the only community-based contract I concepted, with one based on the Yogscast as well. And so a separate article will be focused on a project of the Yogscast. One of their earliest. Can I turn Shadow of Israphel into a kart racer? The obvious answer is yes, as there’s a lot of material to work with, but there’s more than just the locations and racers that go into a kart racer. With both of those articles, the mechanics and features behind them will be the focus.
There’ll be other non-concept articles, as there’s a few racing games not from this year I also want to be talking of, and despite a truck simulator not really being a racing game, I felt this month would be the perfect time to slot in some thoughts of Truck Driver’s Heading North DLC.
