December ’23 Monthly Update

December is here which means once again it is time for the Jingle Jam! Fourteen days of content from the Yogscast, other content creators joining with special streams, and a load of games in a collection as a reward for donating £35 or more to the Jingle Jam. The Jingle Jam this year is representing 12 charities, which I have already covered back when they were announced.

As for the games, there’s a lot. This is the largest collection the Jingle Jam has had, totalling over £1,100. Games such as Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, Cat Quest, and Tiny Life are just some of the more than 70 offered as part of that collection, with a few from Yogscast Games’ library also being here such as Golfie and Aces & Adventures. This year’s collection is also a special one for having a brand new game being a part of it. I’ll be covering a few of what’s in the collection, including the new game Make Way.

The Jingle Jam is not the only huge thing in December. The fifth of the month holds something very special indeed. The reveal of the next Grand Theft Auto game. Rockstar confirmed this on their socials with an image of palm trees and a sunset, and the date of Trailer 1. I’ll be watching that trailer quite a few times, as I’ve wanted to see a modern Vice City for a long time. And then I’ll be talking about the trailer and some initial hopes for the game on the day.

Two games released on the first that I have an interest in. Owing to Jingle Jam content in the first half of the month, articles on both Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince and SteamWorld Build will arrive in the second. For the latter, I played the demo during Steam Next Fest and enjoyed it. For the former, I’m someone who enjoys the Dragon Quest spin-offs over the main games, and Monsters is the sub-series I love the most. So this new one will be a lot of fun.

As per usual, there will be two articles looking back on the year. The first exclusively for games, while the second will be exclusively TV & Film. This has been a great year for both, but especially for the games. So many great ones have released over this year, though it’s difficult to say it’s one of the best. As for TV & film, there’s been great additions within my core franchises, as well as a few outside of them, too. 2023 has been a lovely year. This last month of it will be a great finale before 2024 begins.
